Two amazing 8th graders from American Martyrs School in Manhattan Beach, CA have enabled us to extend our reach into Southern California and Mexico. Initially inspired by a community service requirement of their school, these girls have gone above and beyond a simple assignment to deliver thousands of crayons to children less fortunate than themselves.
Already they’ve enlisted the help of several Los Angeles restaurants and collected and donated close to 20,000 crayons. Recipients of their efforts include two schools in Southern California, and an orphanage in Tijuana, as well as an enormous garbage dump (yes, you read that correctly) in Tijuana, which is where many impoverished families live.
With so many other distractions for young teens these days, it is so moving to see how much these two driven young women continue to accomplish!
